"Settlers
set fire to a barn in the village of Samu, south of the city of Hebron
in the West Bank, on Tuesday morning, according to Palestinian reports.
The
owner of the pen said that dozens of sheep were burned to death as a
result of the arson. He also said that after the fire, he received a
call from a blocked number, saying in Hebrew: "You deserve it." The IDF
says it is investigating the reports."

Louis Theroux spends time with the
growing community of Israeli religious-nationalist settlers. Their
settlements are illegal under international law, and they have been
protected by the army, the police and the Israeli government.
Since the Hamas-led attacks on 7 October
2023, in which 1,200 Israelis were killed, there has been an
acceleration in the establishment of settlements, with settlers pursuing
a campaign of violence against local Palestinian communities.
What was once a fringe movement has now
won support at the highest levels of government, with their supporters
holding key positions in the cabinet and able to influence not only the
role the military plays but also the future of this conflict.
Louis Theroux embeds himself in the West
Bank, meeting prominent settlers - including the ‘godmother’ of the
movement, Daniella Weiss - and travelling throughout the territory to
understand the consequences of their activity. Louis also meets
Palestinians whose lives have been impacted by settlers moving into
their communities. As the world focuses on Gaza, where at least 50,000
Palestinians are estimated to have been killed by Israeli forces since 7
October, Louis discovers that the settlers are already making plans to
move into that territory, too.

Kahanist Rabbi Addresses Israeli Army Reserve Battalion in Hebron

Baruch Marzel, the successor to Meir Kahane, lectured army reservists
on Hebron’s history, in what IDF says was an unapproved event
Israeli army officers invited Baruch Marzel, a far-right activist and
Kahanist, to give two lectures on the West Bank city’s history to
reservists serving in Hebron. Marzel, who lives in a Hebron settlement
himself, last week gave what was supposed to be the first lecture to
members of the Alexandroni Brigade’s 8180 Battalion. Following protests
by some of the soldiers, the second lecture, scheduled for Tuesday, was
canceled. (Haaretz 20. november 2022)
"Israeli Army Declares Palestinian Activist's Home Military Zone After Complaints of Settler Attacks" "Prominent Palestinian activist says settlers 'don’t want me to speak to foreign and Israeli audiences about the apartheid and the Israeli occupation'" (Haaretz 3. november 2022, HELE artikkelen nederst under Kilde).
Den israelske advokat Michael Sfard mener IDF her opptrer ulovlig.

The Israeli army declared the Hebron home
of a well-known West Bank Palestinian human rights activist and the
surrounding area a closed military zone, after he complained of settlers
violently targeting him and his colleagues.
The
order, issued by IDF Brigade Commander Yehuda Yishai Rozolio, bars
anyone from entering the area of the home other than the activist, Issa
Amro, himself. Amro had previously set up quarters for an organization
called Youth Against Settlements, which hosts visitors from Hebron and
overseas on the house's lower level.
Amro’s lawyer, Michael Sfard,
requested a criminal investigation of Rozolio over the order, claiming
that the commander was abusing his authority. In a letter to the army,
Sfard stated that prior to the issuance of the order Amro and his
colleagues had been attacked at the house, that access to the house had
been obstructed and that one person’s cellphone was stolen and another's
damaged.
Some
incidents were caught on video, including one in which an activist was
kicked and beaten, stones were thrown at the house and the cellphone was
taken, all while soldiers were in the vicinity.
Amro called the police following the incidents, and according to
Sfard’s letter, tried to file a complaint with the Hebron police three
times. He was told each time that there was no police investigator to
take it on, Sfard wrote.
In another incident caught on video, four
Israelis lit a bonfire on Amro’s property, near his house. When police
were called, Amro was told that the matter would have to be handled by
the army.
Later,
soldiers arrived with the order declaring the area a closed military
zone, while an English lesson for Palestinians was being held on the
lower level of the house. The soldiers directed the individuals there to
leave the premises.
The
order has been extended twice. Amro was first presented with an
official document and then, on Wednesday night, verbally informed that
it had been extended again. He was not provided with anything in writing
despite the regulations requiring it.
In his letter demanding a criminal
investigation, Sfard called the order “so arbitrary that there is no
doubt that [it was not the product of] good faith or a mistake in
judgment but rather signed with the knowledge that it was not directed
at the person who has been disturbing the peace and was meant to satisfy
the thugs who had initiated the attacks and ‘friction.’”
For
his part, Amro alleged that for quite some time, settlers had sought to
influence the army to shut his house and the activities hosted in it
down. “They don’t want me to speak to foreign and Israeli audiences
about the apartheid and the Israeli occupation,” he said, adding that he has been left alone in his house and is afraid to leave it due to threats that he has received.
I Haaretz 24. september 2022 opplyses at IDF i Hebron vil sette opp et automatisert system for å kunne angripe folkeansamlinger:
Israeli Army Installs Remote-control Crowd Dispersal System at Hebron Flashpoint Army
says it is examining the possibility of using the system for deploying
approved methods of crowd dispersal as part of 'preparations for
confronting those disrupting order'
Og mer detaljert: "The system in Hebron was created by Smart Shooter,
a company that designs systems to follow and lock in on targets using
image processing based on artificial intelligence. It prides itself on
its accuracy in hitting targets marked by its system, which can be
controlled remotely."
I Hebron fotograferer israelske soldater palestinske barn ned i barnehagealder.
"Israeli Soldiers Awoke, Gathered and Illegally Recorded Palestinian Minors" "Israeli soldiers gathered and photographed 13 Palestinian children forcing them to 'say cheese' before snapping an illegal image." (Haaretz 17. november 2021).
Washington Post 5. november 2021: "To build the database used by Blue Wolf, soldiers competed last year in
photographing Palestinians, including children and the elderly, with
prizes for the most pictures collected by each unit. The total number of
people photographed is unclear but, at a minimum, ran well into the
thousands."
EDIT: 2. mai 2023 Amnesty utgir 80-siders rapport om det israelske ansiktsgjenkjenningsprosjektet: "Israel/OPT: Israeli authorities are using facial recognition technology to entrench apartheid" (se lenke til rapporten under Ny Info)
"Settlers Use Club to Break Palestinian’s Arm. Israeli Cop Returns the Weapon"
"The incident occurred in the West Bank after settlers watered their flock at a cistern that they had been told by Israeli authorities was off limits to them". (Haaretz 8. november 2021, hele artikkelen nederst under Kilde)
Slik vil folk over tid drives bort fra sine eiendommer.
Settlers Use Club to Break Palestinian’s Arm. Israeli Cop Returns the Weapon

Jewish settlers from an unauthorized West Bank outpost beat a Palestinian man with a club on Sunday, fracturing his arm.
The incident followed a clash over the use of a cistern in a
Palestinian village in the South Hebron Hills. Police separated the two
sides and later an officer returned the club to the settlers, who reside
in Maane farm outpost.
The incident occurred after the settlers, who were herding sheep,
directed the sheep to a cistern in a Palestinian village in the Masafer Yatta
area, even though the Israeli Civil Administration in the West Bank had
ruled that the settlers had no right to access the cistern for their
flocks. Several Palestinian villagers sought to get the sheep away from
the cistern and were attacked by the settlers. In addition to the man
who fractured his arm, two women were injured in the clash.

Israeli police arrived a short time later, removed the Palestinians
from the scene and advised them to file a police complaint. The police
permitted the settlers to continue to water their flock from the village
cistern. The officers took the club from the settlers but minutes later
a policeman returned the club to the owner of the farm, Issachar Dar.
"A clash developed between [settlers] and Palestinians in the South Hebron Hills
area," the police said in a statement. "Following that, an Israeli army
force and the police arrived at the scene and separated the sides."
An officer who was not present at the time of the initial clash
returned what was described as "a stick," the police said, adding that a
complaint was filed over the incident and that the case is being
investigated.
"Want to report settler violence? You may soon be under investigation" "Palestinians and activists in the West Bank who file complaints of settler violence are finding themselves the targets of police interrogations." https://www.972mag.com/settler-violence-police-investigation/
- Her er umoral satt i system.
"40-year-old Document Reveals Ariel Sharon's Plan to Evict 1,000 Palestinians From Their Homes".
"Minutes of an 1981 ministerial meeting indicate that Sharon, who would later become Israel's prime minister, proposed allocating West Bank land to the Israeli army for the sole purpose of forcing Palestinians out of their homes."
(Haaretz 9.8.2020)
"On 12 March, the Magistrate’s Court ruled that
the settlers who invaded the Bakri family home in Tel Rumeida in Hebron
in 2001 must be evicted within 45 days. The verdict comes after 18
years of litigation in courts, where time and time again the various
courts ruled that the settlers must leave, yet where the settlers
managed to evade implementation and submit new legal proceedings
designed to buy them time and exhaust the Bakri family."
Peace Now 18. mars 2019: https://peacenow.org.il/en/court-orders-eviction-of-settlers-from-bakri-house-in-hebron
18 år.
For å få kastet ut tyvene.
Palestinerne trenger fortsatt beskyttelse i Hebron
Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide må sørge for at:
1) Rapporter kan offentliggjøres
2) At TIPH-deltakere kan fritas fra taushetsplikt
