It's not a problem of faith. It's a problem of guilt. I think Israelis,
deep down, know that there is no coming back to normal with regard to
gaza.
What they did is irredeemable. And that pushes a lot to support going all the way, because
"After what we did to them, we can only imagine what they would do to us if we don't destroy them. We simply have no choice."
Which is genocide 101.
Omer Bartov used this example to explain why he changed his mind and
finally accepted that Israelis were committing a genocide, complete with
explicit intent, in Gaza.
